Solenne
I photograph the hour rather than the pose.
I trained as a painter before I ever held a camera, which is probably why I still think in terms of light falling across a surface rather than in terms of subjects.
After a decade between Paris, Lisbon and the south, my work has settled into something unhurried: fewer frames, longer looking, and an editing hand that leaves the day intact.
I work in daylight almost exclusively. I like grain. I like the frames taken just before anyone was ready.
The philosophy
A photograph should hold the temperature of the day — not improve it, not correct it, not make it into someone else's afternoon.
