What to wear, and why it matters less than you think

What to wear, and why it matters less than you think

Linen, weight, movement. A short, unfussy guide to dressing for a photograph that will outlive the trend.

The most photogenic garment is the one you forget you are wearing. Choose weight over pattern, movement over structure, and a palette that belongs to the place you are standing in.

Linen, raw silk, heavy cotton — anything that catches air. Avoid anything that will date the image in five years, which usually means avoiding whatever is loudest this season.

And then stop thinking about it entirely. The clothes are context. You are the photograph.
